Overview
Many owners in Bangladesh build through a labour contract and buy the materials themselves, or rely on a contractor they cannot supervise every day. In both cases, regular engineering checks at the right moments make the biggest difference to the quality and safety of the finished building.
Drawings only protect a building if the work on site follows them. Construction management places an engineer between the design and the contractor. That engineer checks the reinforcement before every pour, verifies concrete quality, tracks progress and costs, and resolves problems on site before they become defects hidden inside the concrete.
When you need it
- You cannot be on site every day to check the work.
- You are building through a labour contract and supplying the materials yourself.
- You want quality checks that are independent of the contractor.
- The project is running behind schedule or over budget, and you need a clear picture of where it stands.
What's included
- 01
Pre-pour inspections
Formwork, reinforcement, cover, and lapping checked against the drawings before concrete is placed.
- 02
Quality control
Slump tests, cube sampling, and checks on rod grade, bricks, sand, and aggregates.
- 03
Progress and schedule tracking
Work recorded against the planned schedule, so delays are visible early.
- 04
Measurement and bill checking
Work measured on site, and contractor bills verified before payment.
- 05
Contractor coordination
Site questions answered, instructions recorded, and drawing issues resolved with the design team.
- 06
Site safety checks
Basic checks of shoring, scaffolding, and edge protection during structural work.
How it works
- 01
Mobilisation
The schedule, quality checkpoints, and reporting routine are agreed with the owner and contractor.
- 02
Supervision
Site inspections are carried out at critical stages, with a focus on structural work.
- 03
Reporting
The owner receives regular, clear reports on progress, quality, and cost.
- 04
Handover
Records, test results, and as-built information are compiled at completion.
What you receive
- Inspection reports
- Checklists and photographs for each inspection, especially before concrete pours.
- Progress reports
- Regular summaries of the work completed, the schedule, and open issues.
- Test records
- Cube results, material test results, and their acceptance status.
- Verified bills
- Contractor bills checked against the measured work.
Codes & inputs
- Approved drawingsThe approved architectural and structural drawings that the work is checked against.
- BNBC 2020Construction practice, materials, and site safety requirements of the Bangladesh National Building Code.
Questions about construction management
Why do I need an engineer to supervise construction?
Most structural defects are created on site and hidden as soon as the concrete is poured: missing bars, wrong spacing, too little cover, or weak concrete. An engineer checking the reinforcement before each pour and monitoring concrete quality catches these problems while they can still be fixed.
I am building on a labour contract and buying materials myself. Can you still help?
Yes. This is common in Bangladesh, and supervision is especially useful in this arrangement. We check the materials you buy, inspect the work at critical stages, verify the quantities used, and help you plan purchases so that materials arrive when they are needed.
